Monosplit / multisplit air conditioning: how to invest well for your comfort?

- Categories : Promo

What's the difference between single and multi-split air conditioning?

Your decision is made: you are going to invest in an air conditioner to cool down during future heat waves and to heat up during our mild winters.

You are even convinced that a fixed air conditioning system with an outdoor unit is the ideal solution for your specific situation. However, you are still in doubt as to which version to choose: monosplit or multisplit.

While the former consists, as the name suggests, of a single indoor split and an outdoor heat pump, the latter comprises at least two indoor splits and an outdoor unit.

mono-split air conditioning

A mono-split air conditioning system has only one outdoor unit and one indoor unit. It is often intended for use in a single room. The mono-split air conditioner can be mounted in several ways: on the wall (for the wall-mounted model), on the ceiling (for the ceiling-mounted model), in the middle of the ceiling or semi-recessed (for the recessed cassette model). Each of these models has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, this is usually only a matter of aesthetics or of the best device to install depending on the conditions. In a standard room, the performance remains more or less the same.

Multi-split air conditioning

A multi-split air conditioner is a system with a single outdoor unit and several indoor units. This allows you to cool and/or heat several rooms in your home. The number of indoor units that can be connected to the outdoor unit varies from brand to brand. As for the indoor units, you choose the model on the wall (for the wall-mounted model), on the ceiling (for the ceiling-mounted model), in the middle of the ceiling or semi-recessed (for the recessed cassette model). Keep in mind, however, that their power and size depend on the room in which you install them. This type of air conditioner allows you to cool and/or heat all the rooms in a synchronised way or to control each indoor unit separately. This ensures that all rooms are cooled or heated equally or that the desired temperature is achieved in each room.

Your choice will depend on your use

For this reason, a mono-split air conditioner is recommended for people who only want to air condition the central living area of a house, or a bedroom or office. But it is also an interesting option for people who want to find a supplementary heating system for their home.
